Job Description Senior Associate, SLC Accounting and Controls - SLC Management SLC Management offers a mix of in-office and virtual work where our employees are empowered to do their best. Generally, employees are expected to work three or more days in-office each week with flexibility depending on their business, client and team needs. Reporting to the Senior Director, SLC Accounting and Controls, the Senior Associate, serves as a member of the SLC Finance team and is responsible for supporting the legal entity accounting, reporting and control processes including data inputs into SLC’s Management Equity Plan (MEP). In addition, the role supports the monthly and quarterly accounting and reporting close processes as well as support various SLC initiatives. This role offers an excellent opportunity to interact with many groups across SLC and Sun Life as we continue to build the business. It also provides exposure to various aspects of finance such as accounting, reporting, and analytics. The ideal candidate will be a self-driven individual who takes ownership and pride in their work, have an inquiring mindset with a passion for working with new technology and processes, and ability to navigate through ambiguity. What will a successful candidate do? * Co-ordinate and complete the monthly and quarterly finance functions for SLC’s affiliate business, including the accounting close, chart of value requests, intercompany processes, bank disbursements, controllership functions, reporting and analytics. * Support operationalization of accounting models and ledger set-up. * Ensure that an adequate control environment is maintained for SLC and coordinating a stable control environment with SLC’s subsidiaries. * Support reporting and analytics for SLC’s P&L including partnering with business partners to understand and explain the results. * Work closely with the many teams within SLC; providing finance oversight, guidance and issue resolution, as applicable. * Support and lead various strategic initiatives impacting SLC, such as SLC’s Management Equity Plan (MEP), IFRS 18. What a successful candidate will need to succeed? * Professional accounting designation (CPA) with related university degree or equivalent work experience. * Progressive experience within financial management functions (6 -9 years). * Strong problem solving, analytical and conceptual skills. Ability to apply technical knowledge to business issues and have the confidence to challenge and influence senior stakeholders. * Strong verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to build and maintain strong relationships with all levels of the organization. * Strong time management skills and able to handle conflicting priorities while driving desired results. * Ability to operate in an environment experiencing rapid change, and work under pressure to meet demanding response times, while paying strict attention to detail. * Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word; Experience with SAP; Tableau, and experience building reports will be valuable assets.

Requirements

Candidates should bring strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, relationship-building, and time-management skills, plus proficiency in Microsoft Office; SAP, Tableau, and report-building experience are valuable assets.
